What OS are you using?  Can you do an snmpwalk on the switch?
If you are using Linux, what versions of mrtg and net-snmp are you using?

Post the first few lines of the log file.  The OID works on my 3500 so it 
should be 
ok.

Do you get anything returned with an snmpget?
