Couple of options to look at;

* Netflow on the router will give you inbound and outbound
information, including source / destination IP, protocol and bytes
transferred which is ideal. Crannog make a cheap version for Win 32
platforms and looks pretty good.
* SNMP on firewall policies may just give traffic utilization per
policy
* NTOP or a LAN analyzer just behind your router

Cheers

Subject: [mrtg] Network statistics

Hi there,
Hoping you guys have some info for me.

I'm looking for some kind of network utility that can be used as a Network
Traffic monitor,
I want stats for mail ftp http etc.

I have looked at the Netflow option, but only one of our routers has this
option available.
If possible I would like to have this running on the same box as MRTG

Any Ideas ?

Thanks Nic.

Ps. If I wanted traffic totals, say for the whole of a month, could MRTG
do that or would I need to write a script to manually get those counters.
