You could just change /etc/sysconfig/i18n
>From LANG="en_US.UTF-8"
to LANG="en_US"

Logout and log back in.  That's what I ended up having to
do and have not had any problems since.

I tried that and now I get this error:

ERROR: Creating templock /home/mrtg/cfg/mrtg.cfg_l_6126: No such file or
directory at /usr/local/mrtg-2/bin/mrtg line 1433

Did you get that?
