Are you sure they're blocking all ping packets over 50 bytes, or just packets that are exactly 92 bytes. Many (most?) ISPs are blocking 92 byte ping packets because that's the size that Nacia/Welchia uses.
You could use service monitoring, which uses TCP or UDP (depending on the service) instead of ICMP.
