OK. CHIME! Actually, logical disk counters will not register with PERFMON if the diskperf has not been done. Since SNMP2CA makes a call to the perfmon dll for logical disk, it stands to reason that until diskperf is run, SNMP2CA will not see the counters either.
As for why you sometimes have to do diskperf -n, reboot and then diskperf -y, then reboot, YOUR GUESS IS AS GOOD AS MINE. Truth is, on the 6 systems I test it on (XP/2KPro/2KAdvSvr/2003EntSvr, I have not had to do that once. All systems had disperf -y run eons ago for SNMP4W2K support. Also, missing branches are news to me too! Perhaps it is a timing thing. On these systems that are missing branches, are they slow systems? In fact, we are looking into what optimum timeout values should be. But the interesting part is that I installed it on a system that had diskperf - -y previously done, but I had to diskperf -n , reboot, diskperf -y, reboot, and then I could get the 9600.1.1.1 tree. No idea why this is the case and I don't know why you're not getting the 9600.1.1.3 or 9600.1.1.5 values... T. I've double-checked the SNMP service, and made sure all the checkboxes were checked for what it monitored.
