Hi Makai

Thanks for the help I seem to be getting somewhere now.
I un-installed everything and started again and it seems to keep the index file
now.

The problem I am having now is running cfgmaker, following your advice my
command is as follows,
C:\mrtg\bin>perl cfgmaker --global "WorkDir: c:\www\mrtg" --output mrtg.cfg
  1.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.3.1.2:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

The OID I got from getif being the following,
.1.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.3.1.2 -- The average, over the last minute, of the
percentage of time that this processor was not
                                        idle.

But still I get the following error message

C:\mrtg\bin>perl cfgmaker --global "WorkDir: c:\www\mrtg" --output mrtg.cfg
1.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.3.1.2:

Many thanks

Hi Jaun,

First I would use a command like

perl cfgmaker --global "WorkDir: c:\www\mrtg" --output mrtg.cfg
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

because the reference for cfgmaker say the synopsis is

cfgmaker [options] [EMAIL PROTECTED] [[options] [EMAIL PROTECTED] ...]

It is normally makes a config file for the interfaces. When you check the
config file you can see, that the OIDs are never used alone, always two of
them are used.
At the end of the OIDs you will see the instance number. Those are
important, for instance in case of the interfaces those tell you which
interface is addressed (and so with the other objects ...)

I use Getif 2.3.1, but the OIDs are never gone. Any messages in the
getif.log?

Jozsef
