>>i'm trying to use mrtg to monitor the Received Signal >Strength of my >>cable modem interfaces.Negative values are involved from the >ranges of >>-5 to -106 can anyone help me PLEASE! How about using RRDTool, and tuning the file?
Once the .rrd file has been created, use RRDTune to set the minimum value to something lower than 0, and then the data should be collected OK. Use routers.cgi/14all.cgi/mrtg-rrd to display the data. You have to manually Tune the initially created rrd since the default creation is for a range 0->MaxBytes. Anything outside this range will not be stored, but you should be able to modify it and then negatives will be stored. If MRTG will not collect negatives via SNMP then write a wrapper to do it. I know RRD is quite happy with negatives. Steve Remember: you can tune an rrd file, but you can't tunafish. --- Steve Shipway: ITSS, University of Auckland Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Web: http://www.steveshipway.org/ ** We can only discover new oceans when we have the ** ** courage to lose sight of the shore. ** -- Attached file removed by Ecartis and put at URL below -- -- Type: text/x-vcard -- Size: 155 bytes -- URL : http://www.ee.ethz.ch/~slist/p/08-Steve%20Shipway.vcf -- Unsubscribe mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Archive http://www.ee.ethz.ch/~slist/mrtg FAQ http://faq.mrtg.org Homepage http://www.mrtg.org WebAdmin http://www.ee.ethz.ch/~slist/lsg2.cgi
