Traffic is measured as "IN" and "OUT" on an interface. On a switch that can be referred to as a "port". Traffic coming "IN" on an interface most likely will go "OUT" on one or more interfaces depending on the destination. MRTG does not care where the traffic goes, just the amount of data that comes "IN" or "OUT" on an interface. Michael Wren Senior Network Analyst Burns & McDonnell Engineering P.O. Here's the question: Does MRTG measure all traffic that simply hits the "IN" (or "OUT") side of a switch, OR, does it actually measure traffic that goes THROUGH the switch? In other words, does mrtg know the difference between (a) traffic that hits one of the switch interfaces and goes thru to the other interface, and (b) traffic that hits one of the switch interfaces and does not go thru to the other interface?
