Yup, think I've seen similar in the past. My $0.02 is to double check your snmp instances against your config files. I've had fun and games with devices changing their interface index across reboots.
When you identify this problem (and fix it!), let us all know what it was. I for one, am always interested. SD -----Original Message----- From: Bigelow, Andrea L. If you daemonize your MRTG for that device, check to make sure the PID still exists. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, January 24, 2005 7:40 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [mrtg] Re: MRTG not communicating with C6509 First, check your logfile and see what errors you're getting. Secondly, see if you can poll the device manually from your MRTG server with snmpwalk (ie: snmpwalk -c <read string> -v 1 <IP address>). -Jon -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, January 21, 2005 3:50 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [mrtg] MRTG not communicating with C6509 I have occasional problems with MRTG and I hate it when the problems magically fix themselves -- I don't know what went wrong or how to fix it next time. In other words, I haven't always learned from experience. Yesterday I discovered that I have no data on two of my C6509s since Tuesday at 10:25. A third C6509 in the same rack works fine. Today I found another switch, a C3550-12G, that has not been recording data since January 11 at 14:25. >From my MRTG box, I can ping all of the switches and I can telnet into each of them. I'm assuming this means I have a good route between the devices. What I can't figure out is what would cause the communications to suddenly stop. Can anyone offer any troubleshooting tips? I would like to understand the what's going on as well as get the problem fixed.
