Hello Massimo, you have to add your ping.cfg to your configuration file of mrtg. mrtg-ping-probe will be called by mrtg. so you need to get mrtg up and running, see e.g. http://people.ee.ethz.ch/~oetiker/webtools/mrtg/mrtg-nt-guide.html then you can add the lines from ping.cfg to the mrtg.cfg file.
