Thanks - I chose simply to have two graphs (one: ping times, the other: packet 
loss) - that solves the issue!

Derek,

afaik mrtg does not support having two different legends.  You might
have to generate two graphs, one for RTT, obe of packet loss.  If you
were running mrtg-ping-probe on a Unix or Linux system, I would
recommend to use smokeping
