Thanks, I'll let you know in about an hour if that worked.  Why would it
rewrite that first line instead of just writing the first line, and
everything after staying at Zero and never changing until something big
happened resulting in..

In 15 minutes, the counter increased by 1.  So, if you are calculating a 
RATE per second, how many errors is that per second?  0.00111111111

Since MRTG & Rateup only does integers, you end up with a 0.

Long story longer:  Try using the PerHour option.
