Much thanks to Jay and Anson. I have it working and polling the ports. I just have a problem with the descriptions.
snmpwalk shows the data lined up like this: IF-MIB::ifAlias.1 = STRING: 3640 Router So I tried alias for ifdesc it blanks out the area in which it should be placing the alias name. So SNMP sees the names for the Alias OID, but they are blank when cfgmaker runs. I see the snpo lines for eth/type/name/descry but no alias which sounds like that's where my problem is. -----Original Message----- From: Jay Hennigan [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, January 05, 2006 4:04 PM To: Aaron Clasby Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [mrtg] Re: mrtg frustrations Aaron Clasby wrote: > Does the ifref match Dells ifAlias lines then? One of --ifref=nr or --ifref=name should work out of the box. > I will review the link you sent me again. Scroll down in the referenced link to the Configuration section. The choices for ifref and the advantages of each are given. Note that this controls how MRTG communicates with the monitored device and not how the results will be displayed. --ifdesc controls how it is displayed. They can be different. The goal of --ifref is to identify a descriptor that: 1. Uniquely defines each interface 2.
