Cisco has a bug where the dot1q subinterfaces on a GigE port (my issue is on a 7200 on IOS 12.2(16)B2) don't increment counters properly. Does the counters on the main interface work propelry as that isn't affected by the bug. I don't have the bug ID but Cisco informed me that it's fixed in 13.3(17a). I haven't confirmed this yet as I can't justifiy an IOS upgrade to fix that issue and [likely] introduce more major bugs.
