Have you run perldoc bbmrtg.pl? The pod on that module is very good. In short, you have to add configuration items to the mrtg cfg file that tell bbmrtg what the bb-host name is for a particular target, what test it is associated with, and what thresholds are associated with red, yellow, and green. > Does it run on all of the clients I am monitoring No. That's the point - I can't run the bbclient (or hobbitclient) on a router or a UPS. So, I collect the information using mrtg and drop it into Hobbit, complete with threshold information, so that hobbit can do the paging, acknowledgments, and all of the other things that it is really good at. Using mrtg/bbmrtg to monitor servers would be a little silly - the client would work much better for that function. > or on the MRTG server? Yes, bbmrtg.pl needs access to the .rrd or .log files, as well as the mrtg config. There is no specific requirement that the mrtg poller and the hobbit/bbnet box be the same. > Is the RRD tool required? No, bbmrtg.pl can read either rrd or rateup-style logs. -- Daniel J McDonald, CCIE # 2495, CISSP # 78281, CNX Austin Energy http://www.austinenergy.com
