Actually, MRTG will name the files based on whatever the Target[] name is (the 
thing between the square brackets), mapped to lower case and with certain 
special characters removed.  

What you are probably referring to is the output from the cfgmaker script which 
generates MRTG configuration files with Target names in this format:  <device 
identifier>_<interface identifier>

Since you have specified your device as an IP address you'll get an IP for the 
first; if you call cfgmaker with --ifref=ip then it will use IP address as the 
unique interface identifier (default will be interface number).  Later versions 
of cfgmaker can specify more than one alternative for the --ifref option in 
case the first is not unique (see the documentation for cfgmaker for more 
details)
