Since a recent upgrade to mrtg 2.16.2, when mrtg runs it complains:

2010-03-16 08:20:03: WARNING: Can not determine ifNumber for pub...@gw:
ref: 'Descr'    key: 'ppp0'
2010-03-16 08:20:04: ERROR: Target[gw_ppp0][_IN_] ' $target->[10]{$mode} ' did
not eval into defined data
2010-03-16 08:20:04: ERROR: Target[gw_ppp0][_OUT_] ' $target->[10]{$mode} ' did
not eval into defined data

I did some googling and one recommendation was to simply remove the "ok"
file. I believe on Ubuntu the "ok" file is /var/lib/mrtg/_etc_mrtg.cfg:

pub...@gw_      Descr   br-lan  7
pub...@gw_      Descr   eth0    2
pub...@gw_      Descr   eth0.0  4
pub...@gw_      Descr   eth0.1  5
pub...@gw_      Descr   eth0.2  6
pub...@gw_      Descr   eth1    3
pub...@gw_      Descr   imq0    10
pub...@gw_      Descr   imq1    11
pub...@gw_      Descr   lo      1
pub...@gw_      Descr   ppp0    Dup
pub...@gw_      Descr   sit0    9
pub...@gw_      Descr   sixxs   14
pub...@gw_      Descr   tun0    13
pub...@gw_      Eth             Dup
pub...@gw_      Eth     00-99-60-43-2f-1a       Dup
pub...@gw_      Eth     10-11-18-10-02-4d       3
pub...@gw_      Eth     41-a1-c4-90-10-01       14
...

Is that correct?

I have tried removing that file and it simply gets recreated with the
exact same contents and the error messages persist.

Any other ideas?

Thanx!
b.
