Since you're interested in using Nagios plugins with MRTG, it's also worth
mentioning that there are some MRTG plugins, mrtg-nrpe and mrtg-pnsclient, that
allow MRTG to use the output of the Nagios NRPE and NSclient agents (including
NC_Net, etc). This allows you to run a Nagios plugin via NRPE to obtain data
in MRTG format. Also, there is check_ucd which runs a Nagios plugin via the
UCD Net-SNMP daemon and has both MRTG and Nagios output modes.
All of these plugins are available on monitoringexchange.org, and also are
packaged in with the Routers2 frontend for MRTG/RRD, in the extras directory.
