Some connections really do allow you to go over 100%. For example, an ATM subcircuit may have a hard maximum in excess of the advertised bandwidth, and the provider may allow you to exceed the guaranteed bandwidth if they have the capacity available (which is why the AbsMax MRTG directive exists). This is quite possible with VDSL or fibre connections where you pay for more capacity and are artificially throttled by the ISP. Also check that you are using the same definition of 1K everywhere. 1000 or 1024? If your max is using 1000 but your provider is using 1024 then you'll be able to reach 102.4%... that's 6560...
