Shahid- The problem is SUM doesn't seem to like the Forms![Towel Specs]! ... reference. I got it to work by putting the calculations in the Record Source. 1) Change Record Source of Towel Specs to: SELECT [Towel specs].Style, [Towel specs].[PO No], [Towel specs].Length, [Towel specs].Width, [Towel specs].[lbs/Dz], [Towel specs].[Weight loss %], [Towel specs].Reed, [Towel specs].[Pile to Pile], [Towel specs].[Shrinkage %], [Towel specs].Ratio, [Towel specs].Fancy, [Towel specs].[Plain border], [Towel specs].[Pcs Qty], (([Pile to Pile]-[Fancy])*[Ratio]+[Fancy]+[Plain border])/36 AS YPile FROM [Towel specs]; 2) Change Control Source of the YPile text box to: YPile 3) Change the Record Source of Pile yarn colorwise to: SELECT [Pile yarn colorwise].[Style No], [Pile yarn colorwise].Color, [Pile yarn colorwise].YCount, [Pile yarn colorwise].Type, [Pile yarn colorwise].Ends, [Pile yarn colorwise].PlD, [Forms]![towel specs]![ypile] AS YPile FROM [Pile yarn colorwise]; 4) Change the Control Source of TPLD to: =Sum(12*[YPile]*[ends]/(([Ycount]/[Type])*840)) John Viescas, author Building Microsoft Access Applications Microsoft Office Access 2003 Inside Out Running Microsoft Access 2000 SQL Queries for Mere Mortals http://www.viescas.com/

I am attaching the datbas for johan review. Pls note that Problem No 1 I have sold and now it is working ok but still I could not find any soluation for second problem. Pls note that I have developed a more complex datbase by using the filed name in same style but never faced any problem like that. thnaks for your help Regards Shahid I am attaching the database form in which I am facing the problem. Pls open the form named "Towel specs" 1. Pls concentrate the filed highlighted with Color Red named (Pile to pile ) and Blue( named Yardage). When you change the value of red field it will reflect the impact on Blue field (as blue field works on formula). The problem what I am facing is that. 1. In subform field named "Y pile" should change quickly by changing the value in red filed as it is just representing the blue field. But it is not happening I have to closed the form and reopen to get this change happened. 2. I want a subtotal of filed Plbs/Dz in main form. For this I have used a field at form footer of subform by using sum command and have tried to show it on main form in the filed name d"Totla pile lbs/dz" but always an error message is coming. Hope I have explained my problem well. Will appreciate if you can attch file back by correction it Thanks Shahid _____ Enjoy this Diwali with Y!
