Bob-

It doesn't make sense that the data in the subforms is not related to the
data you are displaying in the outer form. What is the structure of your
tables? What is the Record Source for the main form and each of the
subforms? (The SQL if you're using a query - open the query in Design view
and choose SQL View from the View menu.)

Subject: [ms_access] Saving subform data

I have a form in a database that allows input of times and activities
of volunteers. It has it's own table called "Volunteer Activities".

I have two subforms that appear on the above form, One for the
Volunteer and one for the Patient that the activity was performed for
if any. Each of these items comes from it's own table and is not
associated with the "Volunteer Activities" table.

The problem is once the two subforms are shown on the main form I want
to have several of the fields from the subform saved in the
appropriate field for the "Volunteer Activities" table. I have not
been able to have the selected fields ever transfer without typing the
information physically in the appropriate field. This leaves the
operation open to many typing errors when the data is inserted.

I am looking for a way to enter those items automatically and then
save them to the "Volunteer Activities Table". It seems that anything
that is entered into a field with an "=" sign preceding it will not
transfer to the main table. Example =[Name]

Right now I open the input boxes, Volunteer ID and Patient ID and
choose the correct numbers. Upon pressing Enter the main form opens
and shows the next new record ready for inputing. Also the two
subforms are populated with the correct data but I cannot save any
part of those subforms short of actually retyping the data physically
in the proper fields.

Is there any way to automate the inputing of this data?

I hope I explained it OK.

Thanks Bob
