Travis-

Earlier you said you wanted to see the name, not the number. To do that,
you must "hide" the first column by setting its Column Width to 0". But if
you do that, Limit to List will be Yes by default. To not limit to the
list, the first displayed column must be the bound column. You will see the
second column only when the combo is dropped down.

It's also not clear why you have the column widths so wide. You would need
13" of horizontal space to see both values when the combo is dropped down,
and you would have to set List Width to something like 13.25" instead of
Auto.

John,
I changed a couple of things as followed:

What are the following properties of your combo box?

Row Source: tblSegmentRSM

Column Count: 2

Column Widths: 8"; 5"

Bound Column: 1

And what is the data type of the Control Source? Number (of the
'segmentRSMID" primary key)

The tblSegmentRSM reads as the following:
tblSegmentRSMID-------------------AutoNumber (which is the primary key)
SegmentRSM------------------------Text

The main form called pipeline has a field named Segment RSM which is linked
to this table called "tblSegmentRSM" which is set to a number.

Travis-

You have told the combo box you have only one column, but you have defined
column widths for two columns. Is the first column in tblSegmentRSM a
number? If so, it should set the bound column with no problems. What are
the first two columns in the table?

Subject: [ms_access] Access Limit to List problem.

I'm having problems with my main table which a field is linked to another
table which I'm trying to "not limit to list". When I go to create the field
on the form it displays a number and not the name of the person. I have
tried changing the columns widths and no luck. Here is the error that I'm
getting.

The value you entered isn't valid for this field. For example, you may have
entered text in a numeric field or a number that is longer than the field
size setting permits.
