Bob-

Let's start with the basics.  What is the structure of your three tables?
Your Event table should have a Primary Key.  Your People table should have a
Primary Key.  And the People_Event table should have a Primary Key that
combines the two fields.  In the People_Event table, use the Lookup Wizard
(one of the options under Data Type in Design view) to define a lookup from
the People key to the People table and from the Event key to the Event
table.

Now run the form wizard.  Choose fields from the Events table and the
People_Event table.  DO NOT choose fields from People.  Choose the option to
create a form with a subform, and you should be all set.

Subject: RE: [ms_access] Adding Records to Bridge Table

I am just trying to get the very basics down of creating tow tables
and a bridge table and adding to the bridge table.

table 1 is called Event
table 2 is called Person

I want to create a form that will allow me to select an event and add
people to it. However, I don't want the user to be able to add
someone who is NOT on the Person database to the event.

I want them to be able to have some drop down (combo box) to
select them from.

I tried the following:

forms/new/form wizard

Select Event as table where data comes from

Fields selected on form:
Event.id and Event.date

Person.Fname and Person.Lname

How do you want to view your data?
selected Event
selected Form with SubForms

layout: datasheet

style: standard

form: attendance

Subform: donor subform

That allows me to see who is in an event, but because the form
doesn't include the PK of the person table I can't add to it. And even
if I could, I would need a way of knowing who is in the database and
what their PK was.

Can you offer any help?

I tried looking at the database you referred to, but it was too
complicated for me to figure out how they did it.
