On this particular database previously mentioned I have to enter data manually
into the imported database. What is the best way to go about this.
Short Example:
Imported database looks something like this
Name Qty Price
abcde 5 2.50
bnmhj 2 5.60
xyzse 4 1.00
rtus 4 2.00
Calculating total cost in a query I would multiple Qty*Price
But because I am trying to do this in Access, bnmhj should be qty 4, not 2.
This is because the main part has a quantity of 2, bnmhj is a sub-part. Thus if
you use 2 of the main part you are actually using 4 of bnmhj. This main part
is not on the same line, it is above bnmhj so I cannot use an iff. I want to
put a separate column in the imported database with 2 in it, so the query would
be 2*2*5.60.
bnmhj is one of many parts like this and also with different quantities.
If I used Excel I would run out of rows and resources.
Any comments if I am going about this correctly.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Whenever I use the trim, mid, etc, in a query I get an undefined
function. At work these worked for this database and now at home I get the
undefined message.
I created a new query using trim, mid and I get the same message.
What is happening?
