First, its a good idea... I beleived access can handle all and no need of front page but its up to you.
This is very simple and straight forward database. Only the time consuming here is the data entry and scanning of all images. hth -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Jeff Sent: Sunday, August 13, 2006 9:20 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [ms_access] Newbie Question: Can this be done? Hi Gang, Please forgive my ignorance. I just want to know if I'm heading in the right direction. I have a video rental store. I want my customers to be able to search out movies on the computer using in-store (no internet) data instead of looking for each movie to be displayed on the shelf. I need a computer fix that will allow an easy search by many different categories (title of movie, actors, studio, year of release, genre or several genres, director, etc. and will show a thumbnail of the front and back DVD covers <all of which when clicked will hyperlink to the in-store database and show a large view of the covers and list all related movies>). This needs to be in a format that will allow even my oldest, youngest or least computer savvy customers easy browsing. I think I can use ACCESS and FRONTPAGE to achieve this. ACCESS should be able to handle the data and jpeg covers and FRONTPAGE will be able to display (and hyperlink) it in the easiest to use format for my customers. I have talked to a couple of local computer guys who have told me this would be a very difficult, very involved, very time-consuming, very expensive undertaking. Am I deluding myself to think this will work? If it will work, how difficult would it be? If the local guys are right then I need to rethink this idea and look for alternatives. Thank you in advance for any advice you can give and again my apologies if I've not made myself clear in explaining my dilemma to you. Thanks a lot, Jeff Yahoo! Groups Links Yahoo!
