John, Thank you for responding. I am printing out your response so I can study it and I kind of understand. I do have more than 4 possible approvals (actually 6) and I am being stubborn. Everything works just fine as long as I use actual names in my tables, but it's when I try to use ID numbers for those names and then "convert" them back to names for reports that I run into problems.
I am doing this database for the quality dept. of a local company. (I am self taught and they don't pay me much, but I love to solve problems.) Whenever a change is made to a document, we track that by giving it a unique "change" number and a description, etc. It is then routed to at least one or more people for approval. Since we have a lot of these, I didn't want to keep storing all that text in the database. I understand the basics of queries and relationships, but get lost when it starts getting complex. However, I appreciate your response! Thank you!!! Anne P.S. I have your book. --- In [email protected], "John Viescas" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Anne- > > Do you always have no more than four approvals?
