It seems I don't know much about the things beyond "easy". I have a form where the month name (Month) is entered - what I would like to do is to have another field with the month number (Month Code) to use for queries and sorting filled in by Access. So, when the data has been entered and the exit or next record function has been requested I would like to lookup the month name and than plug in the month number for it. I have looked at "events" and IIF(), but just can not get it to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.....Tom
