FYI - MuseScoreSSMN based on MuseScore version 2.x. is in development at ICST
Zürich. The prototype should be ready before next summer. You can contact us

Subject: [Mscore-developer] send OSC messages / musescore SSMN / OSC client

Hello,

I'm new here, so sorry if the answer for my questions are somewhere else (I've
searched a lot).

I usually work with lilypond to edit my scores, but now I would like to use a
WYSIWYG software to work side by side with other applications.

Particularly, I'm working with softwares like Pure Data and SuperCollider and I
want to trigger specific pieces of code as I play my score in musescore. This
commands could be triggered by midi, I know, but the bit resolution and the
arbitrary mapping between midi pitches, velocities, etc to the values I want to
send to these softwares would give me a headache.

Also, as I want to use midi exclusively to play notes in a sampler (that would
be routed to PD / SC through Jack), I would use OSC commands to control
processes that would be used in real-time in a concert situation, having thus a
good "preview" of my live live-electronics pieces.

I've seen that there was a project going on between 2011-2013 to create a
special version of MuseScore (musescore-ssmn) [1] [2] and that it seems to do
what I want. Unfotunately, the version available in the blog crashes in my
system (10.9.5) and seems to be based on 1.x versions of musescore.

I have also seem that the musescore code that implement remote control through
OSC has also a class of OSCclient [3]. I suppose, though, that the playback
system is not (yet?) designed to send network messages for given musical
elements such as notes, texts and -- what I would like to have -- a special OSC
message element (hidden in the printed output, but functional during playback).

So, my questions:
What would be the best way to have Musescore sending OSC messages during
playback?
Would it be possible to have it natively in Musescore in the future?
Plugins?

(It seems that NoteAbility Pro [4] can send network messages to Max, but I
would like to work with an open source and community based solution)

Thank you,
José H.
