Hello,

I'm Nalinda Hemanga and I'm a final year student studying Software
Engineering at the University of Colombo School of Computing, Sri Lanka. I
have studied music at my school and I play piano and guitar. I'm even doing
a music related project in my final year and this idea came through that. I
do also have used MuseScore to convert MusicXML into sheet music.

I would like to suggest a project idea which the users can automatically
generate the chords for each measure in a lead sheet using the melody notes.
Assume that there is a lead sheet without harmony (chords). My approach is
to generate the best possible chord progression for the melody using a
machine learning technique and this approach is based on a Microsoft
research. However this method will better suit for lead sheets and the
generated chords will be in triads such as major, minor, augmented etc.

I would love to contribute where there is music and I look forward to
hearing from you.

Best Regards,
Nalinda Hemanga
