BTW, why do you use blob (memo) fields for such simple and short string
values?

It was autodetected ( the TEXT datatype defined in the DB for the
field), me had to use dso_stringmemo to override. Possibly, if
there're TEXT fields in query would be better to activate
dso_stringmemo by default on detecting field types of the query.
