Okay. I had a look Xnest doesn't list the RENDER module. For Xdmx I
explicitly disable xrender to improve graphics performance (or so I was
told), as graphics is running over the network. I'll retest Xdmx with
xrender enabled to see the difference in performance.


BTW:
  For anybody that has old laptops laying around, Xdmx is a fantastic
  way to re-purpose those old laptops and let them act as an extended
  desktop for your main system. It supports up to 16 computers.
