Yes, they are useful. Sometimes it is necessary to check what goes on "behind 
the scenes", for example to see what the compiler exactly makes makes out of 
your code or if there is no source available for a piece of code. Then I 
click in the assembler window and step by F8/F7 from opcode to opcode and 
watch the CPU-window. If compiled with heaptrace one sometimes detects 
invalid pointers by the "0f0f0f0f0f" or "deadbeef" signature.
