that is also available in VLC/LCL

BTW, how do I make an edit field of a combobox non-editable, but still
being able to select values from the combobox menu?

[ the non-editable field that has one of the values  as default  ][v]

if I have 3 elements: [water, fire, earth], and the index is set to zero,
my combobox looks like below:

[water][v]

I don't want to give the user the possibility to edit the field and alter
the option from the field by manually editing it (modifying the name or
completely deleting the content of the edit field). The only option he must
have is to chose one of the three values.

To my knowledge, is impossible to do this from the inspector (to set the
field readonly - there is such an option in inspector, but disables the
entire combobox and that is an error). And also I think there is no method
provided in the component to achieve this. So, I am forced to overcome this
with code that assures that the field is not empty and has one of the
values from the list. Is there another option?
