There are problems also on some Intel graphics on low end laptops. But I see a temporary smudge in a tdirtreeview, but only when I select an item from that list with the mouse and that only for a fraction of a second, then the item is drawn properly.
The trick with flushgdi := TRUE; works, but on such a low end laptop the loss in performance is visible. Not a problem on another Intel I3 laptop. So, I wonder what does fpGUI different...
