Good day all, I'm in the strangest situation ever here, though I have been a bit clumsy as well. I have a PowerEdge server that has a failed drive in its RAID 5 configuration. This server holds our SCOM DBs: Op DB, and the data warehouse. Running SCOM 2012 SP1. The drive cannot just be replaced as the Dell technician says it will not reseed and I will have to rebuild the host, therefore I will lose all the data (Issue: Double Faults and Punctures in RAID Arrays - http://www.dell.com/support/troubleshooting/us/en/04/KCS/KcsArticles/ArticleView?c=us&l=en&s=bsd&docid=438291). I can't copy the VHD out, I always get a MS-Dos invalid function error. Tried SCVMM, Veeam and Networker to backup, but without success. The server isn't connected to SAN, and I don't have 600 GB of space locally (SQL only supports local drives) to backup the DBs. Please note that the VM is running, but the host is highly unstable, it just fails abruptly. Now my question is, in the DB moving guides from TechNet (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh268492.aspx), it says full backup of the DB. Can I instead maybe try to copy to the DB to another host via the SQL native feature? Will that work the same? Has anyone tried before? Obviously if anyone has another alternative, please it would be so much appreciated :)
Best regards, Dominique. ________________________________ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tshwane University of Technology ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This email is sent and received in terms of the Electronic Communications Policy of Tshwane University of Technology.
