What I've done in the past is deploy a few agents to places connected via
cable/dsl/etc - it's a pain because of certificates and all, but once thats
done you just set them up to be watcher nodes. In scom 2012, I actually
stood up management servers as a resource pool dedicated to these monitors,
since we had so many.
