Greetings, I am considering whether to invest time to learn authoring in order to create an in-house MP for monitoring of our SAP environment or to just buy a commercial SAP monitoring solution.
The challenge I foresee for instance from the network ports monitoring perspective is that each SAP server depending on what modules are spun up can be listening on crazy number of almost random ports. In Zenoss for instance you could NMAP-baseline a server and enable monitoring of all discovered ports. Before I dive into learning authoring, would someone knowledgeable let me know if SCOM has features to allow me to detect what all services/ports/processes are spun up on each SAP server and start monitoring them? I guess I am trying to understand what kind of time investment is required from tackling this project and whether there are built-in features I could use. Any input would be appreciated, Nile
