Peter,

We haven't used a dedicated SMS gateway, but have added been able to send SMS
messages via email. We've created contacts that use the email address of the
text service based on carrier. For example, we will create something like
user.text which has an email address of
[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>. Then, we add this
contact to a SCOM notification group. Obviously, this relies on your email
server and being up and running, but it's a cheap and easy solution.

Here are some of the formats for US carriers. Not sure if these are the
relevant for England, but your carriers probably have something similar.

AT&T: [email protected].
T-Mobile: [email protected])
Verizon: [email protected] (text-only), number@vzwpix (text + photo)
Sprint: [email protected] or [email protected].
Virgin Mobile: [email protected].

Subject: [msmom] SCOM 2012 R2 SMS messages

Hi,

I want to setup SMS messaging and have a Multitech SF100-G-GB/IE
(http://www.multitech.com/documents/publications/data-sheets/86002098.pdf)
API based SMS gateway product.

Are there any examples command channel or otherwise of how to configure SCOM
2012R2 to use SMS messaging? I have tried to build a PS1 command channel but I
cannot get it to work.
