Msmtp does not require the server to support DSN, unless you configured
it to use DSN.

Perhaps you use the dsn_notify or dsn_return commands in your Mutt
configuration. This would cause Mutt to append the -N and/or -R
options to msmtp's command line, thus activating DSN.
