Edit po/Makefile.in.in and set GETTEXT_MACRO_VERSION to 0.18. This issue will go away when all relevant systems updated their gettext version to 0.19. I have no idea why this incompability was introduced by gettext or why there is no clean way to update without having this kind of trouble.
