Tim, I'd suggest you might need to ensure the firmware is up to date on the T1000 before trying Solaris 11.2 beta. I had no end of issue getting Solaris 11 to install on a old SPARC box without the firmware update. I can't recall the model from memory.
As far as the quickest way to get started I'd go the vagrant path <http://resilvered.blogspot.com.au/2014/02/solaris-vagrant-packer-and-base-box.html> as per my talk a couple <http://www.slideshare.net/AlanChalmers/solaris-11-base-box-for-vagrant-using-packer> of months back. I have updated my packer code <https://github.com/AlanC-au/solaris-packer> to support building Solaris 11.2 beta base box , ( and OmniOS if thats your thing) . cheers alan On Mon, Jun 16, 2014 at 12:31 PM, Tim Hogard <[email protected]> wrote: > > On Jun 16, 2014, at 10:25 AM, Nathan Kroenert wrote: > > > Hi folks, > > > > Just a reminder that we are on for this Wednesday night. > > > > EVS - the elastic Virtual Switch is the main topic, and if anyone > > has anything else to chat about - that too. > > > > Cheers, > > > > Nathan. > > > Would it be useful for someone to do a short "This is the best way to > set up an 11.2 box to play with?" > For example, I've got a T1000, single disk, no cd rom (no usb boot). > Its not on a production network so, no external disk, no jump start > server, no repository. > What is best for setting this up especially if I'm going to be redoing > the box a few times? > > I'm guessing that spinning up a x86 virtual server as a boot server/ > repository would be best. > > Another useful topic would be to cover how to preserve the build > details of a system so that when 11.2 non-beta comes out, how to do a > clean > install and have it match a beta test server. > > Also does anyone have any ideas on how to get a crypto card 6000 to > show up?
