Ignore the comment about the progress messages.  I see now that I wasn't
getting far enough to make any progress...

        Interestingly, the software claims it erased and programmed the part, 
but
the reality is that is did not.  I'm wonder if my parallel port is too fast.
A while back, my motherboard parallel port blew, and I replaced it with a
PCI based parallel port.  I noticed that my JTAG software for programming
the 386EX FLASH parts on another project suddenly got faster, by about 15%.
I dig out the scope and found that the strobe line on the old parallel port
was something like 75us, and the PCI port was 400ns.  Those times are from
memory, and may be off, but nonetheless, the strobe duration on the PCI card
was over an order of magnitude shorter.  I'm wondering if the FET dongle
can't handle that.

        I'm currently loading python on a laptop that has a "slow" strobe line, 
and
I'll see if that makes any difference.
