Dear All,

I'm a bit of a newbie with gcc so apologies if I have any dumb questions!

I'm just started trying to use Insight GDB for the msp430 on a WindowsXP
system. I've been quite happily using IAR stuff so I know all the
connections etc. are OK. I have the following questions if anyone can help

1) Down load seems very slow. From cold boot of everything I've followed the
instructions (giveio, proxy, gdb-insight) etc. and seems OK but the download
takes some time, I had a report "7174 bytes in 183 seconds " which is
considerably longer than IAR quickstart. Does anything need setting up? It
seems like the download is with a small buffer size?? if this makes sense.
As an aside while messing around I did once see a decent downkoad but I
don't know wha I did!

2) Is there a way of programming only the infomem without loosing the main
memory. I want to load different configuration files at will without
reloading the whole code. I can do this with the msp-prgs430 serial
programmer without probs, and can generate the required file images OK. But
tryed loading with gdb and seemed main code no longer ran. Ideally I would
like to be able to do this from the command line.

3) How do I reset the target? (To restart the loaded program without
reloading) Do I have to use the console window and enter a gdb command?

Many thanks anyone that can help
Ian

Incidently I've tryed "mspgcc-insight-setup-2002-11-17.exe" and the most
recent "msp430-insight-win32-20021128.exe" and both behave the same.
