Folks.
There didn't seem to be a HOWTO on getting started with linux support for the
MSP430. So I've started one. It's currently a collection (and slight tidy-up)
of what used to be my various notes and random scribblings on getting things
to work.

Take a look on http://tallyho.bc.nu/~steve/msp430howto.html

The master file is in .sgml just like the LDP people like it. All sorts of
other output formats are thus available using the sgml2XXX tools. I will
happily contribute the master file to the CVS if anyone reckons it has any
merit. Or at least, someone like Chris Liechti will have to do it for me as I
don't have write permission to CVS.

Whatever, it is hoped that this current HOWTO will attract improvements from
all and sundry. Phrasing is often pretty wierd and shows artefacts due to
being patched together from several sources.

Most importantly, I offer no comments on using the tools with anything other
than 2.4 kernels. Is there anyone running on 2.2 or 2.0 (or 1.x? :-)).

I also only comment on the 'gdb' issues. I make no mention of the other ways
of supporting the MSP430 under linux. Maybe the serial JTAG and serial boot-
protocol tools need a HOWTO of their own, but there is support for the FET
parallel JTAG interface from pyJTAG isn't there? I don't know anything about
it. Maybe others can wade in with comments there as long as it doesn't make
the existing HOWTO unreadable.

Please do wade in as soon as the .sgml file is made available (assuming the
whole thing isn't laughed out of court). Remember the stone soup principle.
