To all W98/me users:

Remember that mspgcc is NOT a commercial product. Don't even try to
think of it as such. The people developing this open- source project are
doing it largely in their own time, and therefore for their own reasons.
They have the privilege of using their own resources in whatever way
they wish. And I'm glad they did it.

The problems with W98 arose when one of the developers. Andreas, had to
spend more time earning his crust (or on other things, it's up to him).
Up till then, he provided the platform and the input that ensured
comaptibility. Now if mspgcc is not going to develop into a Linux- only
implementation, SOMEONE is going to have to take up the baton.

I would be willing to, except that my programming skills stretch only to
simple systems. I've never managed to install a program under Linux, let
alone compile the kernel. I think you will find this fairly common: one
of the big obstacles to wider use of all these open- source solutions is
that they expect a much higher standard of literacy from the users.

So, Windows users: if mspgcc is going to become a viable compiler for
Windoews, WE and nobody else are going to ave to do it. Who has the
combination of time, expertise and will?
