I have not used other OSs then SOS written by myself. But here is a brief
description of
project where I used it: http://users.ints.net/skidan/T03DSP/ There are more
then 12000 lines of
C code in control software now, and I found SOS to be a very useful
instrument.
In fact I do not think that I could made all that stuff without it.
I just coding new features and think almost nothing about a lot of problems
of simultaneous making parallel tasks.

BTW, I will make current SOS version freeware. The new version with much
faster
scheduling algorithms is under testing now, but it will not be
freeware/shareware
(only commercial).

So I think good RTOS can make your life simpler :).
