Hansjörg, you were absolutely right. A kind of 'Reinstalling' solved the
problem. Reinstalling a software that has no installer made me think about
wrong configuration files as i had CDT installed after the first run of
eclipse.
Thanks for the right thought.

No. (Menu: Window, Open Perspective) presented me a list that looked 
similar to the one of the new project.



The solution is this little entry on http://www.eclipse.org/cdt/
  "How do I convince Eclipse to "re-read" the configuration files?"   (*)

After doing that there is finally a "C/C++ Make Project" to select and 
also a similar entry in the perspectives.
