Hi Peter,
Could you elaborate on your second response please? Mainly, the
NO associated with developing code for the msp430x16xx. I'm having
problems with the linker in the latest Windows distribution (May 2006)
recognizing the msp430x1612, reporting an unrecognized cpu. The error
message goes on the list the supported cpus and of course the 1612 is
included.
My search of the archives discusses the inclusion of the 16xx
series a few years ago, but no subsequent mention of problems.
Am I missing something obvious or not looking in the correct
places?

Thanks

Subject: Re: [Mspgcc-users] mspgcc optimization patch

Hi John,

>> The patch was for gcc-core 3.3.6

gcc-3.2.3 is the code to patch if there is a problem, its the version
being worked on and produced the best code for msp430. Ill check if this
patch applies to gcc-3.2.3.

If you make patches do them against gcc-3.2.3.

> Is gcc-3.3.6 recommended for developing msp43016xx code?

No.

> Is gcc-3.2.3 still the one to use for stable, trustworthy, if less
optimized?

3.2.3 is more optimized than 3.3.6 it makes smaller code.
