I don't understand how the JTAG commands for blowing the fuse could not
be transmitted by the parallel port tool. Is there actually some reason
why it can't be used blow the fuse, or is it just that the USB tool has
the ability to apply the requisite 6V to the TEST pin and the parallel
port tool does not? In which case if we apply 6V to the pin and issue
the relevant commands through the parallel port tool, the same effect
should be achieved, surely?

If not, then can anyone advise me whether the USB FET tool can in fact
be used with the linux msp430-gdbproxy and whether it supports all the
chips? I have seen conflicting reports about this on the mailing list at
various times. So currently I am unsure whether buying this tool would
be useful.
