I've done a grep on the string msp430x2232 and compared it to the grep for msp430x2234. It seems that the linker, and also the assembler don't have the msp430x2232 string in them.. hence being the likely reason this device isn't supported in them. It seems support for the device is included in almost every other location (apart from io.h, but that's an easy change).

This is exactly what I meant in my last posting. The cpu option is
confusing people!
I realise I can just use the msp430x2234 option and I'm sure it will all just work fine for the msp430x2232, but eventually it would be good to have the msp430x2232 series actually supported. If no one has already done it, then I'm willing to put it in. Just needed some direction on which areas require changes to be made to include in the new devices.

It seems the mainline binutils from redhat sources currently doesn't include support for a large number of the newer devices (such as the msp430x2001 which are supported in the mspgcc releases). A patch must be inserted from the mspgcc cvs to get things to the mspgcc release base.. This hasn't been documented in the mspgcc webpage (infact it indicates quite the opposite).

Hopefully I'll have the devices added in by tonight.. Who would I submit a patch for the new devices to?
